More on Morzine!
Morzine is just over an hour's drive from Geneva Airport and is located in the middle of one of the biggest ski areas in the world - the Portes du Soleil ski domain. Whilst the pistes and valleys are the main attractions here the town also boasts a wide range of other activities including ice diving beneath a lake, nature discovery tours, snowmobiling, tobogganing, snowshoeing and shopping. There is also a world class ice rink and a choice of bars and nightclubs. |
Skiing Portes du SoleilWith 650km of pistes and 197 lifts this ski area, also know as 'Doors to the Sun' encompasses 13 resorts between Mt Blanc in France, to Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Portes du Soleil offers ski runs of all kinds and difficulties, ranging from shallow beginner slopes to some of the most challenging downhill slopes in the Alps.
Morzine's ski area is filled with cruisy, tree-lined blue and red runs, and its also linked to Avoriaz and Les Gets ski resorts. Although the village is situated at a relatively low 900 meters, it's network of lifts reaches Chamossiere at 1800 meters, and Avoriaz, at 2100 meters. You may not be able to ski back down to your accommodation at the end of the day, but the extensive lift system and free shuttle services ensure you'll find it easy to get back to you accommodation whatever the snow cover. |
